OUR CONCERN, RATHER THAN WHETHER WE CAN GET AWAY WITH A CRIME, SHOULD BE OUR ABILITY TO LIVE WITH OURSELVES AFTER THE ACT!

The passage, ‘He left his [coat] in her hand, and fled’ (Genesis 39:12), reminds us that, unlike David who succumbed to temptation, had an affair with Bathsheba and lived to regret it, if we keep recalling how Good loved, preserved and blessed us in the past, it will help put the brakes on any carnal inclinations and impulses that we may have, no matter the source. In other words, our first concern, rather than whether we can get away with a crime, should be our ability to live with ourselves after the act. So let the knowledge that: 1) When we sin, it is against God who sees and knows all; 2) David’s story proves that we will have to live with the consequences of our deeds; and 3) They can be devastating, not only to us, but to those who look to us for guidance; teach you to discipline your body and bring it into subjection, lest, when you have preached to others, you yourself should become disqualified!FG. www.fgtalks.com
