Our city, our space Forum
With the goal of creating a safe space for debate and raising awareness upon the role of public spaces in the community development and the city’s self-articulation, we invite you to the Our city, our space Forum.
Sponsored by CAPF (Chevening Alumni Programme Fund), the event will be in session from November 16th to the 19th, 2020, with an online and bilingual format, led by Cuban professionals. The forum will discuss four main topics: Social interaction and community self-articulation; Community well-being; Development of local economies; and Improving accessibility.
Following the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), 2015, this forum aims to promote initiatives for Sustainable cities and communities (N.11). Additionally, the event is related to the activities for the conception of the New Cuban Urban Agenda 2036, which aims to “improve the life quality of all Cubans and the achievement of sustainable development”, as well as “prioritasing vulnerable groups and territories”.
On the other hand, the new scenario provoked by the pandemics opens the debate spectrum, hence one of the points to discuss will be how COVID-19 has imposed a redefinition regarding public spaces in order to face the virus. The meeting will address local transformations that guarantee both social interaction and physical distancing.
In addition, the summit will gather about a hundred participants, amongst which will be community leaders, architects, communicators, urbanists, sociologists, designers, artists, economists, environmental experts and sustainable development specialists, from Cuba, UK and other countries.
A digital handbook will collect the experiences from the event, and will lay the foundations for future community development and sustainable living actions within the public spaces of the country and the region.
Thus, we invite you to the Our city, our space Forum. If you are interested in participating or have any questions about the event, feel free to contact us.
Kind regards,
