Our Chosen Charity for October 2022 The Urology Foundation
Each month, we’ll be making a £1,000 donation to a charitable cause nominated by one of the YFM team.
Jamie Roberts, Partner and Head of New Investments in the South, explains why he’s supporting The Urology Foundation
Q??Why have you nominated The Urology Foundation?
I heard about the charity’s work after one of my friends, Steven Osborne, passed away from bladder cancer in May. He was only 44 years old and leaves behind his wife,?Sarah Ledwidge, and their twins, Alice and Harry, who will turn two in November.
Another friend of Steven’s, Simon Bailey, has challenged himself to run both the London and Berlin Marathons on consecutive weekends to raise funds for The Urology Foundation. The charity funds research into bladder and kidney issues (including cancer) and Posterior Urethral Valve disorder (PUV).?
Q ?What is your connection to The Urology Foundation?
Simon is fundraising for the foundation to honour Steven’s memory and it is great to support that. He undertook the Berlin Marathon on 25th September and will run in the London Marathon on 2nd October.
Having already raised over £4,700, Simon is trying to raise as much as possible for the charity and I am pleased that we at YFM can lend our support.

Q????????????What will YFM’s donation be used for?
The Urology Foundation is committed to making sure the money donated to it is invested into ending the suffering caused by urology disease and saving lives.
The charity has three key strands of work, through which everything it does flows. By working to prevent, treat, and cure urology diseases, it believes it can end the suffering they cause.
?Simon Bailey, fundraiser for The Urology Foundation:
“Steven was taken from his young family and his friends way too soon - it is such a sad loss to everyone that knew him. Sarah and I have been overwhelmed by all the donations to the foundation that Steven was hugely supportive of, and even if every penny raised means that just one person doesn’t have to go through what Steven went through, it will all have been worthwhile”
More about The Urology Foundation
