My teaching contract’s coming to an end.
It’s been magical getting the children outdoors to learn. It’s where I’m in my flow making stuff happen - setting the challenge then standing back to let the children use their in-built curiosity to explore, try things out, and learn for themselves.
Yesterday we made wind socks out of some cardboard a parent had donated and some barrier tape left over from COVID times. I didn’t have a "here’s one I made earlier” for them to copy. Instead, the children simply got stuck in and came up with some incredibly creative designs. We all had a lot of fun testing them out by running around the running track. Setting up an Eco Club was fun too. The parents gave lovely feedback on how much their children enjoyed it. Getting kids moving, playing and having fun is so important, far more important than filling in a worksheet or writing when they can barely hold a pencil, or spell their name.
The education system does need a shake-up. Yes to more child-led learning (within the national curriculum framework), and less target box-ticking and endless admin. Our children’s mental health should be a priority. More movement, more trying things out, and a lot less sitting at desks with teachers pointing at PowerPoints.

?How To Grow Younger, Medicine of the Future Series Part 37 by Yvette Masure | Health is Wealth???? Mind Over Matter (Part 36 Continued)
So looking after our bodies is one thing, but our minds are another, do let us ask: Are they linked?
Some say to "take it as it comes."?
However, as we learn more about our second brain: the gut: or large intestines: we now see that we are what we eat.?
Of course, those living in the Blue zones are living proof of this and worth noting are their lifestyle recommendations.
It seems to have taken a social crisis and population explosion to realise this, that what they advocate is not only practical, but also sensible, and planet-friendly and the way to a happy life.?
I recently saw a documentary featuring a 103-year-old woman who said, "To be happy, there should be no strict rules. Diet is important, but it is more important to live life for a happy life."
Blue zones are Okinawa: Japan, Sardinia: Italy, Nicoya: Costa Rica, Ikaria: Greece and Loma Linda California. However, in England, people live the longest near the coast at popular retirement spots such as Bournemouth Bognor Exmouth, and Exmouth Minster.
As we age, our brains shrink, and the body ages at different speeds due to factors like lifestyle and genetics. Social interaction exercises the brain, which is supported by gerontology research—an area that studies brain aging and is often examined through MRI scans. This research, particularly concerning Alzheimer's disease and the degradation of brain cells, helps inform lifestyle changes that can support brain health.
*Poor posture: if improved can improve blood circulation to organs AND? blood to the Brain.?
