Are you ready for a challenge? When a leading international game studio approached us with a daunting task: to find a Product Manager with a strong engineering background?? and extensive gaming experience???? – we knew it was time to level up ??.

As experienced recruiters, we knew that finding someone who could both shape the game's vision and oversee its future development, as well as possess the necessary hard skills, would require a unique approach.

Our team rose to the challenge, driven by our own love for computer games, our ability to think outside the box, and our experience in leveraging automated tools to identify qualified candidates.

To start, we manually searched for potential candidates across various gaming communities, focusing on their gaming experience, engineering background, and leadership skills. Additionally, we utilized our extensive network and connections within the industry to identify more candidates.

?? However, we soon realized that this approach alone would be too time-consuming. That's when we put our passion for technology and automated data mining tools into action:

?? As a team of coders ourselves, we quickly developed a script based on the Selenium web driver to scour social networks for potential candidates.

Using this new approach, we analyzed profiles in popular gaming communities, as well as RPG and MMO gaming groups. By cross-referencing job titles and locations with our requirements, we were able to create a list of highly-qualified candidates with the technical and gaming experience we were looking for. We were thrilled with the results of our little hack:

?? In fact, this approach yielded over 40 qualified candidates – exceeding our expectations and allowing our client to fill the position in just half the time they had anticipated.

But discovering a candidate with the necessary qualifications was only the first step. We recognized that the perfect candidate would also require outstanding communication abilities, exceptional organizational skills, and the capacity to function efficiently under pressure. To identify these critical soft skills, we executed a thorough screening process that involved interviews and assessments. Our additional aim was to dig deep into the candidates' thoughts and opinions on gaming, determining whether it was a genuine and integral part of their lives. This was particularly important to our client.

In the end, we were proud to deliver a Product Manager who exceeded our client's expectations in every way – a testament to our commitment to finding the right fit for each position and our willingness to go above and beyond for our clients.
