Our blog is back and we are discussing.. our running journeys!
Hi All, it has been a little while since our last blog! It has been a busy few months for Lucy Fordyce and I with various work commitments and balancing life! Hey ho, here we are and well, well, well…guess who has finally decided to take the leap of faith and start running properly - mwah. Lucy has been running for 12 years however, I can honestly say the thought of even running 1k was traumatic. New running trainers have been purchased along with a pink running bottle, the weather brightening up.. and so there were no more excuses! We have a complicated relationship with running, it is a love/hate relationship kind of thing! (I have been told a few times that I won’t melt when I have cancelled a run due to the rain).
Let me start off by saying that I am not a natural runner. I would always tell myself, “I’ll start next week,” or “maybe when it’s a little bit warmer” - we have all made those empty promises, haven't we? Truthfully, I was afraid of the realisation of how unfit I was! A few park runs down and the “Runna” app purchased, we are well on our way. Running now is slightly more enjoyable and less feeling like I was going to die right there on the path. Lucy described running like dating - first time is always awkward, and leaves you wondering if it’s even worth it, but if you give it a chance, it can lead to some pretty great things!
I still have plenty of days where every step is unenjoyable, but I keep going because I know that the end result will be worth it. There is also something really satisfying about pushing yourself and seeing what you’re capable of and if all else fails, it justifies the takeaway which would follow that evening!
If you’re thinking about starting running but are feeling a little intimidated, let me tell you, we hear you. But it’s worth giving it a try.

Our 10k run is now 1 week away, we are looking forward to the atmosphere on the day in Manchester! We are raising money for Lime Trust Academy for a new ULEZ compliant minibus, which will benefit the needs of the children at the Academies. The Lime Trust now provides education across both mainstream and special education sectors, across three regions - London, Peterborough and Havering.
Any donations would be appreciated and would be going towards a great cause that would directly impact the children at the Lime Trust Academies!
Happy running, friends!
