Our Behaviour- Real life vs Whatsapp Life - Definitely Double standards

Our Behaviour- Real life vs Whatsapp Life - Definitely Double standards

This is not a forward . I, R Krishnan (Murthy) took 45 minutes to compose this message without using even one word through copy and paste technology. So please give me just 2 minutes time to read the full message and after that you can share / forward / delete / ignore as you deem fit.

One of my acquaintances was in a fabulous talkative mood one evening and he said so many things that included

1. A quick gun Murugan type killing he did the previous day.

2. A superlative cake he baked the previous week that was auctioned at a Masters' Chef ceremony in Melbourne for 1 million AUD.

3. The super duper global fashion show previous month in which he was declared the winner that immediately led to 40 million followers for him in Twitter of which 39,343,873 were women less than 21 years of age !

4.How he has become one more wonder in the world in arithmetic by becoming capable of mentally multiplying any 16 digit number by any other 16 digit number and giving the correct answer in less than 28.5 seconds.

5. How he has gained the ability and power to stop a train travelling at 200 km per hour by simply standing on the track and putting his left palm forward.....

.......and went on and on with similar stories.

I thought I must go and tell all these to my friends....But something in me said....hey be rational and think of these all over again and evaluate them across all common-sensical parameters. Within half a minute I decided to ignore all what he had said and carried on with my routine and work.

Now my behaviour is not the same had this acquaintance of mine sent the same nonsense through WhatsApp. I would have perhaps read hardly 50% of the message and have possibly got 'netitillated' so much that I touch the forward button almost as a natural and biological response!

So my sheer inability to see the second mode of communication in the same way as I saw the first one leads to a series of disasters like fake news propagation, spam, misguiding the gullible, fodder for the press and or media, unwittingly being dragged into potential political, emotional, ethical, religious and societal controversies.

So,

1. Let us not blindly forward / share messages. The sheer velocity, speed and reach provided today by contemporary technology can create damage at exponential levels but trivialised mostly through usage of 'netty' words like Viral, spam etc.

2. Let us do some basic due diligence or at least use some common sense before we fall a prey to the dangerous temptation of share / forward

3. Recognise our Responsibility in today's e-world life

4. Let us not fall into potential traps set by few vested interests who want to use the general gullible public as free and fast transporters of their ideas, actions and deeds.

Let's ask ' why this kolaveri' (murderous instinct) and be responsible Netizens while remaining responsible Citizens.
