Our attempt to solve problems in the Indian Food and Agriculture Sector
Dear Connections,
After being “on the sides” of the business action for about a little over 3 years as a management consultant with Nomura, I have now embarked on my entrepreneurial journey and will, hopefully, be taking up a more central role in creating an impact, along with the team. One of my close friends since IIT days, Himanshu Solanki and I have started an agritech venture, Agrilinks Technologies, which is an online wholesale marketplace for Fresh Fruits and Vegetables connecting farmers and bulk buyers such as retailers, restaurants, etc. with full-stack fulfilment capabilities.
The problem we have chosen to target is that of “A broken system of Agriculture Marketing”. In the past 6 months, we have spent numerous days/nights in mandis, met with farmers across regions and visited their farms, talked to multiple industry experts, asked retailers and other bulk buyers so many questions, all with an intent to get our head around the madness of the fruits and vegetable supply chain in our country and imagining how a better one would look like. While the experience was overwhelming, it showed us the true size of the problem and that excites us.
We work out of our apartment in Noida (since, we’re still bootstrapped, lol!) and are in the PoC stage where we’re delivering to a limited set of customers in Noida and purchasing from a limited set of farmers. As we continue to build the core team for the company, we’re constantly looking for smart and hardworking people with a strong value system who can become future leaders.
A shout out to all the people in my network regarding the hunt for the “Head of Technology” and connecting us to the “good guys” of the startup investment industry because we need more nutritious meals to work better.

5 年Congrats! Would be interesting to know how Agrilinks would do quality checks of the sellers here -- one of the problems with the agri produce is also excessive use of chemical, pesticides etc....and NOT specifically Organic as a mandate is what I mean.

5 年Are you thinking of connecting the dots pre-harvesting stage as well? to ensure farmers produce quality products?
