This week, we filed a Leave to Appeal to Canada's Highest Court, the SCC, for Punky Santics, the Australian cattle dog and his human, Susan Santics. Punky has been on 'death row' for dogs for the past 2 years. This case has garnered a lot of media attention locally and internationally. This would be a first of it's kind in Canadian legal history if it goes ahead. It's about the way we treat animals in law, their legal status and access to justice for animals. #A2JForAnimals. As a 20 year pioneer practitioner of animal law and an animal law Professor (adj.) at the Peter Allard School of Law, UBC this case is without precedent.

Biography V. Victoria Shroff is credited as one of the first and longest serving animal law lawyers in Canada. She has been practicing animal law for 20 years in downtown Vancouver at Shroff and Associates and is also Adjunct Professor of animal law at Allard School of Law at UBC. Ms.Shroff also teaches animal law to paralegals at Capilano University. She has been recognized for her work in animal law, was a finalist nominee for Canadian Lawyers' Most Influential Lawyers in Canada in 2018 and 2019, and is frequently interviewed about animal matters in the media. Ms.Shroff has lectured on animal law locally, in USA and in Asia. She also regularly contributes animal law articles for legal, pet and mainstream publications.
