Our 300 Word Strategy Note for 2019

-         Raiscient PKC Advisory Strategy Team

Enterprise is not a static thing. A new variable emerges from its ecology every now and then. But seasoned executives and often business owners, especially those of us who have had a long and successful run, subconsciously start believing in certain generalised, static ‘truths’.

We tend to gather ideas on what works and what does not, based on experience. We allow the history to dominate us and we get trained just the way those birds in Taronga Zoo or the elephants in the Bangkok show get trained to do certain seemingly intelligent acts in response to a reward and punishment mechanism. The truth is that the uncaged birds have forgotten that they are free to fly away and the unshackled elephants have lost their natural playfulness.

Those of us who are senior executives or business owners in the lucky country down under that is resource rich, economically stable and has sunny beaches, could be a bit aloof from the dynamics of world’s most thriving and challenging businesses and markets, and gradually settling in the comfort zone of fixed notions.

Emerging environment is unfortunately harsh to those not willing to listen in and change – for example the Australian fashion retail, residential real estate, department stores, lenders, mortgage brokers and insurers, pharmacies and aged care providers are facing the results of not responding to the emerging realities.

Entrepreneurship requires that you become a bit of a novice, throwing acquired wisdom to the wind, trying out new seemingly infeasible things, even when everything is stable on the surface. The under-currents are ever changing and the time is perhaps readying to reward the new crazy you.

We are excited to have started working with our new clients, including family owned and first generation businesses, universities, government sector, not-for-profit organisations, financial institutions and conglomerates. We wish to especially mention our services to the Australian mid-market, unlisted companies that are open and agile, on strategy, business planning and a number of operational areas such as risk and compliance management, governance and ethics, process review and redesign, financial restructuring and performance enhancement. These businesses have a great promise for growth and enhanced ROI, becoming attractive to private equity investment and a potential IPO situation.
