Our 2023 tech' roadmap
rascal systems is, at its heart, a technology company. It's at the core of our identity; our vision statement is to use technology and data to build better businesses. For almost 20 years we’ve provided retail tech solutions to our customers that simplify the trading of complex categories. As a tech company we have an inherent desire to stay agile, develop and evolve. In this article I take a look at what the next phase of our tech-evolution looks like.?
Completion of our migration to the Azure cloud platform
The move to Azure and integration with the wider Microsoft ecosystem has been a long-term project for us - and I’d be lying if I said it’ll end once we complete the migration. The move represents our commitment to providing a secure and stable platform for our entire tech stack and will provide headroom for growth and diversification across the business.?
Stronger tech foundations will open up greater opportunities for integration and more advanced algorithmic processing - we already receive and process more than 1,000 data feeds daily, pre-7am. Moreover, we’ll be better placed to handle bespoke client requirements and new category expansions, cementing our position as the leading independent gatekeeper in the retail tech space.??

Acceleration of enhanced PowerBI dashboard reporting
In the past 12 months we’ve ramped up our reporting and dashboard offering with the adoption of PowerBI and enhanced data visualisation capabilities. Our data has always been clean and our reporting always reliable but the combination of PBI and data-vis opens up a new level of insight and analysis, allowing our customers, supported by us, to make quicker, clearer decisions that have an everyday impact on sales and revenue.?
We’ve upskilled our data and reporting team to support the expansion and our customers are already recognising the benefits of this. 2023 will see a full roll out of reports across the business, an exciting prospect for customers and internal teams alike.?
Commitment to continuous innovation
Both of the above initiatives, and everything I’ve spoken about today, fall under the umbrella of continuous innovation. It’s a term often banded around in tech circles but our evolution timeline demonstrates that for us it’s more than just words. We learn, evolve and adapt, and each time we do it has a real-terms, measurable impact for our customers. Whether that’s saving millions of pounds worth or labour, eradicating shrink from a traditionally complex category, or enabling retail efficiency in other ways. We won’t stop doing this in 2023. And that’s exciting, for us, and our customers.?
