Do you know the hardest part of Ripping Off The Bandaid?
In my high school biology class, a requirement of the class was we had to "blood type" ourselves. The procedure involved the pricking of our finger with a needle like device just to get a significant sized droplet of blood. Then we could use it by a testing process to arrive at a conclusion. It was excruciatingly painful...
( Mine? B positive)
BUT... it wasn't the physical pain! It was not about the physical discomfort, but rather the mental hurdle before taking action. It was about stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing discomfort. WHY?
Because the process was necessary, required for my grade. It was on the syllabus too. The outcome, much like swiftly removing a bandaid, became more important than my discomfort. It had to be done! And besides, I didn't want to appear "whimpy" to the rest of my classmates. (Primary objective.)
Our subconscious minds are designed to safeguard us, but at times, this very mechanism can hinder our capacity to make bold and decisive moves. Moves that otherwise would lead to the achievement of our vision, our goals and dreams.
Will you take the necessary actions, do what is necessary, despite the perceived notion of risks / pain that lead to the accomplishment of your goals? Or will you simply only think about it?
The hardest part of ripping off the bandaid, like sticking yourself with a needle; the most difficult thing, the hardest part.....? It's in the thinking about it.
Jack Welch, former CEO of General Electric coined the phrase, "Growing fast in a slow-growth economy". He increased market value of GE from $12 Billion in 1981, to over $410 Billion when he retired.
