Other Worlds Film Festival Finalist
Fantasy TV pilot receives its first award!
The Other Worlds Film Festival in Austin, Texas, has named Legacy of the Witch as a 2022 finalist in their Science Fiction, Horror, or Fantasy teleplay competition category. Thank you to the festival's founder and creative director, Bears Rebecca Fonte, as well as the festival's script readers for this honor.
Legacy of the Witch is my first collaboration with another screenwriter, Michael Keeling. Michael was born with Velo-Cardio Facial Syndrome and a congenital heart condition that required five separate surgical operations in his childhood. He lives in England, has Aspergers, and possesses an incredibly fertile imagination. While I believe I did some of my best writing ever, I know I had a lot of fun in the process of working with Michael.
Set in the forgotten mists of long ago, the pilot's fantasy story concerns the struggles of a witch and her human allies to save the world from a sorcerer and his army of dark forces. Crossing a rift through time and space, a young archaeologist becomes entangled in the grim conflict and joins the battle for survival while seeking ways to turn the tide toward victory.
This recognition marks the sixth writing accolade my script projects have received this year!
