Oshakati hosts a successful round of the Nedbank for Good Series

Antonius Amugongo and Eveline Shilongo emerged as victors in the sixth round of the 2023 Nedbank for Good Series, which took place at Oshakati Golf Club in the northern town on Saturday, 5 August.

A total of 24 golf players took part on the day where Amugongo garnered 45 points, ahead of Eino Kamati, who amassed 42 points in second place, and Elifas Iimbondi, who managed 41 points in third place. Shilongo led the event by 37 points, ahead of second place Hilya Ininga on 27 points.

Organiser of the event Dan Zwiebel said the event was a huge success despite the fact that the Oshakati Golf Club has a small contingent of golf members.

"We look forward to the growing number of golf players in Oshakati. It was well attended by both participants and fans," Zwiebel said.

He added that over 400 schoolchildren pitched in at the mobile R?ssing Foundation Laboratory, which was on site, and managed to gain knowledge through various experiments.

"The children had an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge in physical science and mathematics. As the organiser, I would like to thank the local community and the Oshakati Golf Club for being part of the event," he said.

This is in line with what the Executive Director of the R?ssing Foundation, Uparura Kuvare, said previously, noting that the generous support from the Nedbank for Good Series to the R?ssing Foundation is able to take ‘science education to the learners’ through the Mobile Laboratory.

Nedbank Namibia Communication and PR Manager, Selma Kaulinge said that seeing the impact this event has in the communities is the reason Nedbank Namibia prides itself in making sure it continues its contribution through such initiatives.

“It was heart-warming to see over 400 school learners show up to see the various scientific experiments carried out during the day by the Rossing Foundation team. It shows that we are indeed on the right path with this series because the reception has been incredible. Nedbank Namibia would like to thank all the participating golf players who contributed to the success of this round in the series,” Kaulinge said.

The Nedbank for Good Series continues on the following dates: Walvis Bay Golf Club on Saturday, 19 August; Rossmund Golf Course on Saturday, 26 August; Henties Bay Golf & Lifestyle Resort on Saturday, 2 September; Windhoek Golf & Country Club on Saturday, 23 September; and the final at Omeya Golf Club on Friday, 6 October. ?

The series is sponsored by Pupkewitz Motors, Future Media, AfricaOnline, Engen Namibia, Safintra Roofing, Gondwana Collection Namibia, CB Enterprises, Zebra Trailers, Pupkewitz Megabuild, Windhoek Lager, and Imperial.
