HopeNow had the immense privilege of participating in the thought-provoking conference, "Preventing trafficking in human beings and increasing identification of and assistance to victims amid refugee flows from Ukraine: the role of civil society and anti-trafficking hotlines," held on December 6-7 in Vienna. The event brought together an assembly of over 70 dedicated civil society organizations and NGOs, fostering a collective exchange of insights and ideas aimed at addressing the pressing challenges surrounding human trafficking within the context of refugee flows from Ukraine. Here are the main takeaways from the event.
?? Collaboration in Action: A Forum for Civil Society and NGOs
The conference served as a dynamic platform for impassioned discussions and collaborative efforts to combat human trafficking. It was inspiring to witness the commitment of organizations working tirelessly in the field, each contributing a unique perspective and valuable expertise to the collective cause. As we shared our respective experiences and strategies, it became evident that unity and collaboration are the cores of effective solutions.
?? Empowering Civil Society: The Key to Sustainable Change
One of the central themes that emerged from our discussions was the pivotal role of civil society in preventing human trafficking and aiding victims. Our shared commitment to amplifying the voices of those affected, coupled with proactive measures to identify and assist victims, formed the cornerstone of our deliberations. The conference reinforced the notion that, as advocates, we are not merely observers but active participants in driving positive change. 25 presenters from all over Europe and North America showed their statistical data and practical measures on how they are combating human trafficking.
