The #OscarSlap and The #GuidedMissile

The #OscarSlap and The #GuidedMissile

The world is divided on the #OscarSlap by Will Smith to Chris Rock.?

Pretty much everyone has an opinion across the entire spectrum from Right to Wrong and yes, even the infamous consultant-favorite 'Depends' !!?

Think about where you stand on the topic !!?

Now think about how your opinion has 'changed' since you read about the #oscarslap ...?

think about your first reaction when you read a headline or a comment about it?

think about your reaction when you saw the video?

think about your reaction when you read a few lines, which gave you some basic context.?

think about your reaction when you read about the background behind why Will Smith got angry and slapped?

think about your reaction when you started reading about the incident on social media where people talked about it from both sides ...?

You might have noticed that your reaction and point-of-view and personal opinion about the incident changed and recalibrated with each additional input received from the different channels above. As you were exposed to different stimuli and diverse opinion, even your opinion began to change / enhance / take form ....?

Thats how life is. No opinion is constant or fixed. You are constantly changing, evolving, learning, adapting.?

You can let the forces around you lead you on an unguided journey OR you can guide yourself in the right direction.?

I always tell my coaching clients ... an unguided missile is more dangerous than a misguided missile. Of course, a guided missile is the Best !?

Be the guided missile in life and create a laser sharp focus towards your goals.?

Coming back to the #OscarSlap,?

Learn from others but don't get swayed by their opinions entirely. Learn, Adapt, Grow ... Don't copy and replicate the popular opinion.?

Comments welcome ... (but lets not argue about the right-wrong of #oscarslap please)?

Another lesson from the #OscarSlap - #OwnYourMistake.?

Will Smith has already owned his mistake and apologized for his behavior. I haven't heard anything about Chris Rock making a statement yet (let me know if he has). Will SMith acted emotionally and he acted irrationally in the heat of the moment and emotional outburst. The incident will not be forgotten by others and will be brought up time and again.?

Your mistakes are stepping stones of learning for You. Learn from them. Apologize when required. Own your mistake ... and Move On. Don't remain stuck. There will always be someone who will want to drag you down or bring you back to that mistake time and again. Learn to control yourself and ignore them or deal with them. Don't allow them to drag you down, drag you back to that time and state of mind.?
