OrthoSpineInsider: NASS Edition

OrthoSpineInsider: NASS Edition

It has been too long since the last edition of The OrthoSpineInsider, with the transition to launching my own business taking focus. However, with NASS around the corner, it felt like the perfect time to relaunch with the NASS Edition!

This edition has a different feel to the usual #orthospineinsider, honing in on key companies and market trends that we expect to shine in LA next week.

Our NASS Company Spotlight: OssDsign

It’s been an incredible few months for Swedish Innovator OssDsign, setting them up for a phase of growth that any manufacturer would envy.

OssDsign has just received FDA clearance for ‘Catalyst’, a nanosynthetic bone graft, for use in interbody cages during spinal surgery. The clearance means it can now be used on-label in interbody cages cleared for use with synthetic bone grafts.

CEO, Morten Henneveld recently commented: “There is a huge demand for interbody use of synthetic bone grafts, believed to represent as much as 50% of all bone graft usage in spine surgeries, the new clearance marks a major market opportunity and sets us up for further commercial acceleration”.

It’s no surprise that another announcement quickly followed, outlining a strategy shift for the company to focus on the US Orthobiologics market. With a direct share issue raising over $13 million, OssDsign is ready to ramp up commercialization under the leadership of Eric Patermo .

Combining this fantastic product with a talented leadership team can only lead to a remarkable growth trajectory in 2024.

Stop by booth 1131 to learn more about OssDsign and their next phase of growth.

Endoscopic Spine’s Time to Shine

The current period of innovation in Spine is the most exciting of my career. We are seeing a huge rise in personalized solutions and increased adoption rates for navigation. But it’s now time for Endoscopic Spine to get the plaudits it deserves.

Having partnered with Endoscopic Spine companies for many years, I am a big believer in its capabilities and have been anticipating this wave of adoption for far too long.

MIS Endoscopic Spine surgery is beginning to dominate conversation and it’s a surgical solution that will thrive in 2024.

Who are the players?

Joimax have been dominant in international markets for several years, with Wolfgang Ries committing to educate physicians on the concept of endoscopic spinal therapy at the Endoscopic Spine Academy (ESPINEA).

Although their growth has been impressive, the market is expanding, with more companies are starting to shine. If you are looking to better understand this therapeutic option, you should check out these key players in LA:

Booths to Visit

Being in recruitment creates a unique privilege. I get a great insight into the products, plans, and capabilities of emerging companies that don’t yet dominate industry news.

Here’s a few companies that you need to visit at NASS next week:

?? 3Spine (1137): Developers of the worlds first total joint replacement for spine surgery.

?? Bolt Navigation (828): As spine surgeries continue to migrate to ASC’s, could Bolt’s app-based navigation system turn the navigation market on it’s head?

?? Cresilon (712): This NYC based start up has developed a hemostatic gel that stops bleeding in seconds, without the need for manual compression.

?? Medacta USA, Inc. (1639): Medacta’s spine business is on the rise. They are looking to lead the way in patient specific spine treatment, with an ecosystem of augmented reality, navigation & implants.

?? Symgery (1339): Surgical simulation for spine surgery. Their portfolio consists of a high fidelity haptic simulator (TSym) & a Biometric Simulator (BSym).
