Ormat Secures 15-Year Tolling Agreements for Two Energy Storage in Israel; ACWA Power Expands Regional Footprint with $693 Million and More...

Ormat Technologies, Inc. a leader in geothermal and renewable energy, announced today that it has won a tender from the Israeli Electricity Authority. The company has been awarded two 15-year tolling agreements for Energy Storage facilities, with a combined capacity of around 300 MW/1200 MWh.


ACWA Power a global leader in water desalination and energy transition, has signed a Share Purchase Agreement (SPA) with ENGIE’s regional subsidiary to acquire assets worth $693 million. The acquisition includes 4.61GW of gas-fired power generation capacity and 1.11 million cubic meters per day of water desalination facilities across Kuwait and Bahrain.


Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is making significant strides in renewable-powered desalination with the first phase of its seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant at the Hassyan Complex. His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, recently reviewed the progress of the project, which has reached over 55% completion. The AED 3.377 billion project, set for completion in 2027, will be the world’s largest water production facility based on SWRO technology and DEWA’s first implemented under the Independent Water Producer (IWP) model.


Emirates Global Aluminum (EGA) is exploring alternative clean energy opportunities in Indonesia, according to an updated statement from the Indonesian government. This follows a clarification from EGA, which denied earlier claims that it planned to build a nuclear power plant in the country.


HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE), chaired the Council’s 86th meeting at the Mandarin Oriental Jumeirah Hotel, where key energy and sustainability strategies were reviewed. The meeting was attended by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Council, along with senior government and industry officials.
