ORINink, brightening the MTA
Today on the #6 Subway in NYC I saw a man doing rapid drawings of other people in the car, then leaving the illustrations on the seat next to subject. For example:
The artist told me I could find him online at ORINink. Indeed, he is on instagram and he has a website orinstudio that's been abandoned since 2019, but has a lot of nice stuff on it. Here's a fun article about the artist back in 2016.
The artist told me that he's been trying to break into The New Yorker for twenty years. I can emphasize.

I have an article planned that discusses how my messages to the MTA help line has given me an archive of homeless riding the MTA. Before I post that, I thought it would be nice to post a feel-good story for the weekend.

I've seen him on the subway and admired his great work.
