Be Original: Never Forget Why You Started
I enjoy reading articles from my mentor, sensei Daniel Ord as always. He is my northern star in Team Management, Leadership and Art. Recently he wrote an incredible article “Why Fortune Cookie Wisdom frustrates me and what to do about it” I reflect a lot about the importance of expressing authentically. One of his viewpoints resonates with me deeply:
Lots of buzzwords, statistics that anyone can google - Information. Not insight.?
Can’t agree more.?
Now with ChatGPT, everyone can be a writer with perfect English, listicles and make long essays easily — in seconds. Honestly, the efficiency of ChatGPT excites and scares me at the same time. If the Language Tool can do so much faster and better, where does the years of education and experience of a human stand?
I spend around 2 hours daily reading or watching contents via books or online, I realize the best articles or contents aren’t those “perfect” ones which feel or sound like a machine. The best ones usually sound like a friend: telling a story, with a relatable approach, and using authentic insights or examples. The story or insight that can last, and make a connection in your heart. You'll hold onto that wisdom for a lifetime, feeling grateful for encountering it along your journey.
With that in mind, whenever writing, I try to establish my “core values” of the contents first, and write as much as possible freely from my heart, and look back at the draft to improve.
For the parts that I need to pick on the brain of ChatGPT, I will let it help to give some inputs to me review its usefulness; or sometimes, let it improve the grammar / sentence structure; and I focus back on my original article.
I am more than happy to have it assist me, than dominate me.
I'm filled with happiness and gratitude for this language tool, and I take pride in writing from the heart every time.
