Creative/Speaker/Podcaster - Building Stand-out Brands through Strategy & Aesthetics! aka Voppa
Recently someone asked me how I got into "branding" I'd never really been asked that as a first question. so I thought I'd share it.
I've always been a creative kid. I was shy, quiet and non-existent at school. But I loved the arts. I would doodle, pretend and have mind adventures all the time.
In high school, I continued my love for the arts. But I wasn't really a good "artist" My portraits and landscapes didn't really look that realistic.
WHAT WAS I GOING TO DO WITH MY LIFE?
It wasn't until I did an apprenticeship at a design studio in downtown Melbourne, that I lit up and found my passion.
So I went to college and studied art and design in Australia, then continued my studies in America. The photo in this post is me on a college field trip to sketch. I think the image is by a pier in Williamtown.
My first job out of college was as an Art Director. I designed logos, book covers, publications and worked on international campaigns. I was promoted to Creative Director and VP as I continued in my career.
My passion has allowed me to work with international clients and international brands, as well as garage startups and soloprenuers.
Here I am, 24 years later, all I've done in my professional career has been branding...and I love it.
There's my story, what's yours? What's your passion?
