ORIGIN OF THE MONSTERRATO

Basso Monferrato is a surprising place, with the typical beauty of a winegrowing landscape. Here in recent decades nature has taken back all the spaces left free by man. Fascinating, but also insidious for the survival of many small hill villages undermined by abandonment. Our mission is to give oxygen to this small ancient world, protected by UNESCO, which is at 50 minutes distance by motorway from Milan, Turin, Genoa and Milan-Malpensa airport.

We can help this world with the only thing we can do: by organizing cycling events that allow hundreds of cyclists from other regions of Italy and abroad to discover this land every year. To help Monferrato, new people are needed to come and admire it, to come and find out what the "mal di Monferrato" is. If you like the mission, if you feel it a little "in your gut", write down these dates:

- SATURDAY 2 September 2023, for those who feel the flame of competitive spirit inside, 2nd edition of La Monsterrato Gravel Race, 16th event of the Trek UCI Gravel World Series and the only Italian qualifying round for the UCI Gravel World Championship scheduled in Veneto on 7 and 8 October. The Monsterrato Gravel Race is open to gravelbikes, mtb, cyclocross bikes, road bikes with enlarged and possibly knobby section tyres.

- SUNDAY 3 September 2023, for those who love slow and gentle cycling, and don't want to hear about competitive spirit, 7th edition of the Monsterrato-Strade Bianche Monferrato, self-managed randonnée cycle-pedaling open to gravelbikes, mtb, vintage bikes and vintage, cyclocross bikes, road bikes with widened and possibly knobby tires and even e-bikes.

The choice is yours, Monferrato and Monsterrato are waiting for you.
