Orientation of Optolong Optical Filters
Orientation of Filters?
Optolong filters are hard coating , with high durability , you can easily populate filter cubes , filter sliders ,and filter wheels by yourself without fear of damaging the filters .
To maximize transmission and blocking and to minimize auto-fluorescence, we must always keep the light is incident on a specific surface of the filter . That means we should install the optical filters into microscopes with the correct orientation .

Orienting Housed Excitation and Emission Filters
Optolong excitation filters and emission filters are mounted in black oxide rings ,with alignment arrow on the ring . The arrow points in the direction of light propagation . For microscopes , excitation filter arrow should point away from the light source and towards to dichroic mirror , and the emission filter arrow should point away from dichroic mirror and towards to eye/camera.
The reflectance coating of dichroic mirror should towards to light source and sample/specimen .?
Orienting Dichroic Mirror and other unmounted Optical Filters
Dichroic mirrors and other unmounted optical filters are with feature orientation marks that identify the coated surface. For dichroic mirrors , Optolong normally laser etch marks”DM”?or put a label “DM”?in the top right corner of coated surface .
We can also put specific marks as per customers’?request .?
