Lets face it, we tend to ignore our garages. They serve as giant storage units half of the time, and nobody really sees them...right? The interior of our homes tends to be the primary focus when it comes to cleaning up. So here are some simple ways to organize your garage in 4 easy steps.
1. Clear out the Garage
Removing everything from your garage allows you to clearly see useable space and additional opportunities for organization. As you move items from your garage to your driveway or lawn, sort items by “keep”, "trash", "sell", and "donate." Once you have everything in your "keep pile" further break down items into categories like:
- Holiday decorations
- Sports equipment
- Automotive equipment
- Gardening equipment
2. Deep Clean the Garage
Pressure wash the floor and walls of your garage. Grease and oil can be removed by applying a commercial-grade degreaser to the floor before pressure washing.
3. Consider Renting Storage Space
Sometimes you just don't have enough space in your garage, even after utilizing overhead storage space and custom cabinetry. When this is the case, consider renting storage space to free up your garage and give it a less cluttered feel.
