Organize for Accessibility
Efficient space allocation begins with an organized layout. Your warehouse or storage area should be arranged to ensure that frequently used items are easily accessible. Group similar items together—such as tables, chairs, linens, tabletop ware and decor—to streamline the picking process. Using clear labeling and designated zones will help staff quickly locate the equipment they need, minimizing time spent searching for items and enhancing overall workflow. Additionally, consider implementing shelving units and bins to maximize vertical space, keeping the floor clear for ease of movement.
Clear bins in linen department keeps linen clean and dust free. Label each bin with what is in there even if clear, as at times low volume product will get hidden between items you have a lot of. Group your glasses in one area, your silverware in another area, and so forth.
The idea is to make a the rounds and pick each order with an easy flow.
Table near the door, so when they go in and out they are right there as usually they are one of the most rented items
Chairs should be on dollies so they can be pushed right to the door for distribution to customers or roll them on the truck for deliveries.
Test and pivot when needed. Always be open to improve your process.
