It’s a lonely world managing company events – especially when you might be the only person in the company responsible for their delivery. How do you get it right when there are so many people to please? Are you the lucky person that has been selected to plan this year’s Christmas party? If so, where do you start?
My name is Michelle Fanus, Founder of Dynamyk Events and I am delighted to offer you my top tips to help you organise your company Christmas Party this year just like a pro!
Here we go. If you need my help anytime throughout this process, I offer 121 Event Buddy support to help you get through it, if it all gets too much!
Otherwise, I can offer the following advice:
- Start planning early – ideal dates get booked up early so you might find that your ideal party is gone! The last Friday before Christmas is called Hot Friday so you need to get in there quick.
- Set up your event correctly from the outset – select the ideal choice day of the week along with ideal location or destination
- The dreaded budget – make sure you get the green light on what you can spend from senior management
- Planning - create your project plan of timelines and tasks
- Themes - bounce ideas around people you trust to develop your Christmas party theme and concept
- Wow! Factor Venues – can’t find the right venue? Get support with venue finding agencies and get recommendations
- Choosing the right party – are you a low key, rather sophisticated private dining bunch or would acrobatics over dinner, casino and full on partying till 1 in the morning be more up your street? Know what will float your company’s boat
- Decide on your ‘must haves’ - what are the deal breakers? Does it need to be in central London, lots of parking, close to a tube station, cheap, a huge space for 3000 people? Pick out your absolute must haves before you start anything
- Gathering your options - research what is out there before you make a decision. Whittle it down to 3 options for your senior management to choose from. Less is more!
- Booking – read terms and conditions with a fine tooth comb
