Organisations Don’t Need Managers
Life in consulting world starts as a junior level consultant. Learning curve is high. Abundance of energy and time to focus on learning things, helps one grow. Once established as an expert in his/her area, the next aspiration is to be a “manager”.
Most of us make the mistake of letting go of one key thing while getting there - of CONTINUOUS RE-SKILLING of core competencies.
Management skills without an updated core skill is a danger bell for all of us. The easiest person to replace in an organisation is a manager. Today’s organisations want people who can contribute not just by making presentations and spread sheets but who can actually contribute towards client deliverables - on the ground.
Do you have the capability of rolling up your sleeves and doing what it needs to be done to fulfil a client deliverable? Are you today equipped to handle what the business demands through use of your own skills and your knowledge? Ask your self. And if not -
GO RE-SKILL!!!

5 年Excellent observation Rahul, However I do not fully agree with thought, that organisations do not need Managers..you see, while executing your work as consultant one gets so intagled with the subject matter that, he/she may not be able to see the big picture.like the end goal of an organisation(which in a perfect world is revenue generation and employee welfare).I belive "Manager"as a position needs to be redefined..In my experience, today a Manager only acts as bridge between the client and vendor teams..This needs to change.
