Have you ever met a person on a job who you thought was not meant for it, not because he was inefficient, but because he was too efficient to be doing just this.
On entry to the DLF building of my office, I often passed one of the security guards, Mr. X, who was super efficient. I never had to wait a moment because the information about my car always reached him before I reached there.
He was very sincere, looked super fit, crisp and was always polite to speak to. It was a treat to see him work. He reminded me of Atlas Shrugged, John Galt? :)
This was not the case with other security guards on duty, one invariably needed to wait, they will call the in-gate and confirm; and then let you enter. But Mr. X always had the information ready with him.
I often wondered this man has so much potential, what is he doing here! He is meant for bigger things, he worked only a couple of months there and stopped coming any more, I had never enquired much about him, so could not gather his whereabouts. Would love to meet him again to see where he has grown on the ladder.
I have come across another security guard, this time in my society building, who is the same. Before we reach the lift corridor from the parking, he is quick to open the door, call the lift, and always greets sincerely, looks he loves his work!
Its so seldom that you see this sincerity, most of the other security guards keep sitting, browsing their phone, don't even bother to greet or look at you.
I wish we had more people like that who gave their all out to what they are doing, its a treat to watch someone do a simple thing in an extraordinary way! He inspires me to be in the moment and bring extra-ordinariness in the ordinary that I do every day! What about you?
