  3. Those who are under-employed and want to enhance their skills competency or career path towards Industry 4.0.

Reskilling Indonesian workers will support jobs created by increasing demand from the digitalization of several key sectors in Indonesia. This program is aligned with the broad direction given by Indonesian President Joko S. Widodo to focus on developing digital talent workforce that will propel Indonesia into Industry 4.0.

With the support of professional mentors and accredited instructors, participants get a foundation of cloud computing knowledge that will propel them into entry-level cloud jobs. Dr. -Ing. Ilham Akbar Habibie, Co-Founder & President Commissioner of Orbit Future Academy, welcomes the AWS re/Start program into Indonesia, and says, “this program is aligned to our vision and main goal; to create visible and transformative social impact for the people of Indonesia. Together with AWS re/Start, Orbit Future Academy aims to help unemployed and under-employed Indonesians by providing technological insights and future skills to the emerging productive workforce. This program’s approach is very innovative, timely, and relevant to the digitalization of Indonesia’s business.”

Dr. Sandiaga S. Uno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Republic of Indonesia -"Indonesia as a developing nation will always face a gap in skills and jobs availability. It is one of the main factors in the increasing unemployment and under-employment across the nation. We need to make specific efforts to close this gap and help create a more productive and empowered society. Organizations also need to be able to support digital skilling, provide new jobs and motivate people to apply their new skills at the workplace.” said Dr. Sandiaga S. Uno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Republic of Indonesia.??

"I believe that Cloud Computing technology is a fundamental part of the digital ecosystem being created and large number of qualified talent will be needed across the nation. The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy oversees a sector that is going to be heavily dependent on digital skills of the future and I welcome the Orbit AWS re/Start program to help create a significant game changer to our ability to successfully implement our programs and plans. This is the only way we can transform into a digital nation that can make a global impact,” Dr. Sandiaga Uno added.

The AWS re/Start program will help create qualified and certified cloud workers for start-ups, small and medium sized businesses, enterprise organizations, academia, and the government sector. This is especially valuable given the emerging workforce requirements from the new AWS Asia Pacific (Jakarta) Region.?

AWS estimates that the company’s spending on the construction and operation of the AWS Asia Pacific (Jakarta) Region will create 24,700 direct and indirect jobs with an estimated $5 billion (IDR71 trillion) in planned investment in the local economy. The Region will also add an estimated $10.9 billion (IDR155 trillion) over the next 15 years to Indonesia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Adopting AWS cloud computing technology enables businesses to be more agile, scale instantly as business needs change, save on IT costs, and expand globally within minutes. The development of digitally enabled business will increase the number and quality of employment in Indonesia.

AWS is committed to helping Indonesians prepare for the technology-skilled, high-paying, in-demand jobs of the future to drive economic growth. According to findings from a digital skills research report, prepared by strategy and economics consulting firm AlphaBeta and commissioned by AWS in March 2022, 98% of Indonesian workers say they need more digital skills to adapt to job changes due to COVID-19, and cloud and cybersecurity skills will be the top two most demanded digital skills by employers by 2025. Orbit Future Academy and AWS re/Start are helping workers in Indonesia to build these in-demand skills, and AWS has already trained more than three hundred thousand individuals in Indonesia with cloud skills since 2017.

Gunawan Susanto, Country Manager, Indonesia, AWS, said “AWS re/Start brings “net-new” talent into the workforce, establishing a win-win-win scenario for individuals to launch successful careers in cloud, organizations to increase their competitive edge with in-demand talent, and communities to thrive and grow. We are proud to work with Orbit Future Academy to build the diverse, robust cloud workforce of the future enabling organizations to accelerate their innovation with the AWS Cloud.”?
