The Orange and thereafter

I was on the evening flight AI 2408 from Mumbai to Delhi last week. I had the usual non vegetarian meal and refrained from having the dessert. Touchdown was expected to be around 930 pm the lights were dimmed.
As we still had some flying time left, I chanced upon the orange, Nazarene my wife, thoughtfully packed for me. I set to unpeel and eat the orange.
I did not really notice the stewardess walk past down the aisle, however she came back in a few seconds and quietly left this packet of wet tissue for me. I had not pressed the button! In the next few seconds both my heart and mind were touched. My heart at the gesture and my mind was thinking about the mindfulness of the lady. She anticipated my need to clean my hands after peeling the orange, especially with the seatbelt sign on, and responded swiftly with a solution.
My mind was struck by her attentiveness and mindfulness. Spontaneous service like that has a special quality. As I disembarked, I made sure to thank her. Her smile in return was priceless.
This experience reminded me that mindfulness is about the impact we have on others, especially when we act with empathy and thought.

1 个月Thank you for sharing and reminding us to be empathetic
Beautifully articulated! We often assume that delighting customers requires grand gestures, but in reality, it's the small, thoughtful actions that make the biggest impact. True service excellence stems from being attentive to others and finding joy in recognizing and fulfilling their needs in these little moments. As someone wisely put it—You don't get a 100% better by doing one big thing 100% better, but rather from doing 100 small things 1% better.
