Oracle CEO: Sun was ‘Fabulous’ Acquisition

Couldn't agree more with Mark Hurd that Oracle Solaris is the best UNIX operating system. Having been involved with Solaris development for more than 15 years, I have seen tremendous innovation both in the operating system and how the operating system is being used (e.g. Appliances, Cloud, etc.). Proud of Oracle Solaris. #UNIXInnovation

Been there since 1/2” tapes and on 2/180’s. All the way through S11. Linux never caught up. I laughed at creating at creating and compressing kernels…?? Still have a few S-bus cards and Sun 10 lying around, and they work.

Rock solid OS that paid the bills for 15 years but dead in the water now IMHO. Big respect for dtrace, zfs, mdb, zones and all the other great enterprise features it delivered.
