Each project follows common steps, today Sergio Croce , Project and Account JDE Manager RTT Srl , explains these by presenting a practical example of how the Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Orchestrator was integrated at one of our clients in the Fashion industry to Update of Exchange Rates from the portal of the Bank of Italy.

  1. Definition of objectives: in the first step, we identify the required functions, the expected results and the processes that require more attention. In this case, the customer wanted the JD Edwards ERP to automatically update with new exchange rates, rather than setting up resources to manually update the system.
  2. Identification of the specific activities to be automated: once the objectives have been established, we proceed with the identification of the specific activities that we want to automate. Are these repetitive tasks? Are these complex processes that require multiple steps? In the case of our client, it was a repetitive, low value-added activity that had to be performed at high frequency.
  3. Workflow configuration: Once the activities have been identified, it is time to configure the workflows. During this step, it is important to clearly define the actions to be performed, the parameters to be transmitted and the evaluation criteria. For our client, the Bank of Italy displays a REST service which, given a date as input, returns the exchange rate values for that day. Subsequently, the process of entering data from the Bank of Italy into the JD Edwards database was made automatic.
  4. System Testing and Monitoring: As with any software solution, it is important to test and monitor the system to ensure that it is functioning properly. Testing the system before full implementation helps identify any problems and fix them before they become critical. In addition to the test phase, we have also scheduled an orchestration for our client that sends an email to the process contacts on a daily basis notifying the successful import of data into the database. In this way it is possible to monitor, even via e-mail, that the process has been carried out correctly and that the database is always updated.
