The Oracle Effect

Oracle is unlike any other hyperscalers (AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud) in the world. It is on a mission to democratise the cloud – “Cloud should be open,” said Larry Ellison , at Oracle CloudWorld 2023, recalling his meeting with Microsoft chief Satya Nadella earlier this month, where it looks to accelerate cloud transformation .

It’s only a matter of time before AWS and Google Cloud also join, making them the NVIDIA of Cloud . “It’s not a matter of if; it’s a matter of when it’s going to happen,” said SVP of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Karan Batta , in an exclusive interaction with AIM, at Oracle CloudWord 2023, Las Vegas. “I think it’s inevitable that we will support other clouds. We’re happy to have that conversation.”

Besides its multi-cloud gamble , Oracle is on a mission to disrupt generative AI in enterprise applications (in collaboration with Cohere , NVIDIA , Ampere , etc.), alongside reimagining healthcare globally. With this in the backdrop, the company has set a new ambitious goal of becoming a $65 billion company in the next three years – i.e. adding $15 billion more from its latest earnings report.?

Oracle India Blooms

India has a massive role to play as it marks 30 years in the country, with 45,000 employees helping 20,000+ enterprise customers and 600 partners. Now it expects to double or quadruple this number in the coming years.

AIM caught up with Shailender Kumar , Srikanth Doranadula , and Deepa Param Singhal at Oracle CloudWorld 2023, Las Vegas, discussing their long-term vision to unleash generative AI applications across its existing portfolio of secure, unified, enterprise-grade products , applications and services, alongside new use cases and their vision to redefine India's healthcare ecosystem and more.

“Today we have our presence across all industries, whether it's banking, telco, public sector or manufacturing, and of course big focus for small and medium businesses, as well as the startups,” said Kumar, saying that they have been growing double-digit across various lines of businesses. Kumar is currently the senior vice president and regional managing director for Oracle India.?

“Overall, the kind of prospects we see in India, the kind of opportunity, that’s incomparable,” he added, saying that globally the growth is around 3%, think about countries like India.?

“Over the last three years, we have been growing at a recurring 100% YoY,” said Doranadula, who is currently the group vice president of technology and systems for Oracle India. He said that they have had the privilege of managing customer databases for the last four decades with a huge focus on accelerating cloud, alongside managing and deploying them to end-customers, in real-time and locally. “We are one of the fastest innovating companies in the sphere, bringing hundreds of new features every 90 days,” said Singhal, the vice president of cloud applications at Oracle.?

She said that India is one of the fastest growing regions with more than 14,000 customers using their cloud applications across HCM, ERP, CX, Sales, etc., and growing exponentially. To scale this multifold, she said that the company sees a huge opportunity among enterprise customers who are now moving to the cloud, alongside existing customers and partners across industries.?

“It’s really exciting times, we're bringing generative AI across all our application stack,” said Singhal. Currently, Oracle has identified 60+ use cases, which will be rolled out in the coming months across all of its products and services.
