Fast Away the Old Year Passes!
The short month of November drew to a close very quickly and the Holidays are approaching fast! Before we start ‘decking the halls’, I wanted to summarize November Meetups quickly. We continued to build on our success around Chatbot workshops, Blockchain + Security topics, Containers, Infrastructure, platform stuff like Java and DevOps centric tech via demo-style Meetups. Here’s a visual story of all our developer Meetups as they happened in November.
Blockchain and Security Better Together
We explored a critical topic with the Cloud Security Alliance group – the role of security layers in Blockchain. So our first ‘Movember’ Meetup began with studying this topic Blockchain and Security – Better Together. Emmanuel Abiodun from Oracle decoded the best practices of security, compliance, and governance when creating and deploying Blockchain apps. Engineers, architects, DevOps leads, CTOs from Okta, Symantec, Cisco, Cienna, Google, Marvel, Qualys, Zoom, Sumologic, flocked over to see what Oracle was showcasing around this specific use case.
From Chatbots to Digital Assistants – The Journey to Here and Beyond
We were quite fortunate to have Suhas Uliyar talk to a group of more than 70 developers on the power of Chatbots/ Digital Assistants. He elaborated on the topic of how Digital Assistants can take full advantage of the innovations in AI through semantic parsing and graphs to create what we call – Digital Assistants. It was mesmerizing to see this 20+ year mobile industry veteran known for this product acumen in Chatbots talk in such simple terms to this audience. Don McInnes accompanied him to do a demo.
Data Science and Machine Learning - Always Green, Always Relevant
Anthony Young from Oracle continued to build momentum around GraphPipe with H20.ai, and all the developer geeks made this Meetup a huge success!
Containers, Kubernetes, Serverless, and DevOps – The Handsome Quatro
We continued to demo our Kubernetes centric solutions to garner interest from that community. Very soon, we will be heading to KubeCon (actually, next week), and you should hear about some exciting things from Oracle. But thanks to the star crew Vijay Tatkar (for running the performance and security workshop for us), Manish Kapur (for talking to a very engaged audience on the power of Serverless and Kubernetes, and showing how all that works), Jamal Arif (on hosting our first Container workshop in the Redwood Shores office).
The JUGS – Building on the Foundation of Java
We hosted two JUG Meetups – one with Tampa JUG earlier in November where Vincente Romero talked about Java as the foundational language. And was the DC JUG in the Reston hub where Kuassi Mensah talked about the React programming best practices. We are continuing to build on this momentum with the JUGs in the second half of this fiscal year.
Infrastructure – All’s Well That Ends Well
Last but not least, the foundational layer of all things platform and cloud. We were super excited to have Rashim Mogha and Jamal Arif at this exciting meetup in Oracle Santa Clara where they talked about the path to moving critical workloads to the cloud by touching on application development efficiencies via serverless and functions and deployment efficiencies via Kubernetes.
What’s on in December – as usual, a lot, we are already underway with containers, DevOps, Kubernetes, serverless, and integration-based workshops. Next week, we are looking forward to our debut workshops on Autonomous Database! And there’s more; the list is here.
