Oracle Data & AI Forum in Copenhagen
Yesterday, Oracle's Data & AI Forum was packed to capacity, creating an atmosphere filled with industry enthusiasts and experts. The day was dedicated to exploring the latest advancements in Data, AI, Cloud technologies, GPUs, Large Language Models (LLMs), Tokens, energy-hungry AI workloads and use cases.
One of the first presentations discussed how Oracle Cloud adopted GPU technology to foster an AI foundation for business outcomes. This was a joint presentation between Oracle and NVIDIA. It was an inspiring session about how workloads in traditional data centers are moving from transactions per second to tokens. In the world of AI, data is the raw material, tokens are the new commodity, and NVIDIA's platform is available in the Oracle Cloud.
Although it was not part of the session, it is worth looking at NVIDIA's future data center projections:

Another insightful presentation addressed the impact of AI in clinical imaging. It highlighted how AI is not only reducing scanning times but also lowering radiation exposure for patients during the diagnosis of various brain diseases. This innovation represents a significant leap forward in patient safety and diagnostic efficiency, showcasing the powerful potential of AI in healthcare. It was rightly pointed out that the new hires can get up to speed in a couple of days by using AI as a co-worker, rather than spending five years in on-the-job training. This brings to mind a blog I published on this topic a few months ago. Will AI Put Many of Us Out of a Job? This might not be the case.
Finally, an inspiring and thought-provoking presentation on Sustainable AI was delivered by a university professor. The discussion focused on a subject that is highly important for everyone: energy consumption and its relation to CO2 emissions, energy-hungry AI workloads, and how to measure energy usage at the compute level.
