The Oracle Analytics Storyteller: TaDa Tuesdays Video Series

My first day at Oracle was April 1st, 2019. I wasn't sure if I actually got the job or if it was some sick April Fools' Day practical joke or something. So you'll understand my relief once the security turnstile light turned green as I swiped my badge on my first day.

The Oracle Analytics team parallels my first badge swiping experience! By this I mean, we're eager to start and get going day in and day out, we move forward, fast, only envisioning green lights ahead of us!

I knew I wanted to weave my passion for analytics and love for storytelling together, but how could I educate on Analytics while entertaining through Stories?

I doodled down the word "DATA", stared at it, and thought about what the end goal of presenting data in its analyzed form truly is. To me, in its simplest form, data analysis is calling attention to something important within the data and how to act on that finding. Then I stared at the doodled "DATA" again, rearranged two of the letters and I had "TADA." In its Merriam-Webster definition, Ta-Da is "used as mock fanfare to call attention to something remarkable"...it sounds a lot like data analysis the end goal of data analysis.

Thus spawned "Turn Your Data Into TaDa." A bi-weekly video series highlighting quick and exciting features and capabilities that 'I Betcha Didn't Know' were offered within Oracle Analytics. The themes seen throughout the episodes focus on augmented analytics, integrated analytics, and collaborative analytics; all themes that are in the DNA of Oracle Analytic.

This is a communal series, meaning that if there are features within Oracle Analytics that you love for a variety of reasons such as speed to insight, visual aesthetic, collaboration, efficiency, or whatever else, I want to hear them! This episode of Turn Your Data Into TaDa highlights the Butterfly Chart extension created by Oracle ACE ?? Gary M. Adashek and Diego Flores.

The extensions are a great way to further your analysis, outside of the visualizations provided out-of-the-box with Oracle Analytics! Create your own or leverage the visualizations and charts created by the Oracle Analytics community!

Episode 8: ODTUG's Oracle Analytics Storytelling Challenge

ODTUG invites you and your colleagues to participate in the first ODTUG Oracle Analytics Storytelling Challenge!

Put your Analytics, Data Visualization, and data storytelling skills to the test! This 48-hour contest begins Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 12 a.m. (PST) and concludes Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. (PST). Video submissions will close on January 31, 2020 at 5 p.m. (PST). You/your team will be creating a data story to illustrate insights from a world population data set.

The analyses and stories developed by participants will be created through the ODTUG Oracle Analyt---ics Cloud instance (after you sign up an email will be sent within 24 hours to set up your login credentials) and/or Oracle Analytics Desktop. Submissions may be promoted on social media after the completion of the contest.
