Optimizing bimetallic and multimetallic Cu-based catalysts by promoters for enhanced reverse Water-Gas Shift reaction

Optimizing bimetallic and multimetallic Cu-based catalysts by promoters for enhanced reverse Water-Gas Shift reaction

?? Exciting News! ??

I'm thrilled to share that my latest research has been published in the Journal of CO2 Utilization! The article, titled "Optimizing bimetallic and multimetallic Cu-based catalysts by promoters for enhanced Reverse Water-Gas Shift reaction: Insights and stability assessments", dives deep into the development of catalysts for efficient CO2 conversion.

?? Key Highlights:

  • Investigating Cu-based catalysts supported on hierarchical alumina for the RWGS reaction.
  • Insights into bimetallic and multimetallic systems combining Cu, Fe, and K species.
  • Enhanced catalytic stability, CO2 adsorption, and conversion through a tailored pore structure and metal promoters.
  • Potassium (K) as a key promoter improving electrostatic interactions and electron transfer, while iron (Fe) boosts high-temperature performance.

In this study, we aimed to tackle the common issue of catalyst sintering—where the active metal deactivates over time due to high temperatures—by incorporating iron and potassium species. The result is a more stable and efficient catalyst that shows great potential for industrial applications in CO2 reduction technologies.

This research not only opens new avenues for optimizing catalysts in CO2 conversion, but also provides potential solutions to the long-standing issue of catalyst sintering and stability.

This work, under the guidance of Prof. Amin Bazyari and Prof. Mehran Rezaei , in collaboration with Dr. Ehsan Akbari and Elaheh Babaei, offers key insights into enhancing catalyst efficiency and stability.
