Optimize Your Working Space, Issue #75

As Virtual Assistants, and since we work remotely, our clients don’t see us or our work environment in person. Though that’s the case, we still need to pay attention to the physical aspects of our work if we’re going to be successful.

Here are a few pointers about how to take care of the physical details that make a difference:

  1. Keep your desk cleaned off.?It’s easy to have post-its, notecards and paper all over your desk. But every week or so, review?everything?that has accumulated: organize it, file it or discard it. Your desk is not the place to stack the books you want to read, store your hair ties or the pile of bills you need to pay.
  2. Make your space attractive and comfortable.?Buy yourself a nice chair, use a desk that makes it easy to organize your work and hang some pictures next to you that make you happy. My office is going through a facelift right now and I can’t wait to move back in and enjoy my freshly painted walls.
  3. Change out of your jammies.?While I mostly sport Nike yoga pants and a comfortable t-shirt, I do take a shower every morning, comb my hair and hang up my pjs.?While I can (and have)?worked in my jams, it’s an important transition to work mode to get dressed.

Remember that even though no one can see you, your environment plays a huge part in how you feel and your ability to be successful. Take a look around your working space and take some steps to spruce it up!
