Optimize Enzymes Concept Feed Formulation of Broiler with Runeo

Enzymes are proteins that only act under very specific temperature, pH, and humidity reaction conditions and only with their specific substrates. Enzymes are biological catalysts which can accelerate chemical reactions under the usual conditions. But the animal’s digestive system, feed processing conditions and diet formulation must be taken into consideration in selecting the best enzyme or mix of enzymes for the desired nutritional outcome.

Broadly speaking, there are four types of enzymes currently dominating the animal feed market to break down fiber, protein, starch and phytic acid.

Fiber-degrading enzymes break down fiber to improve the digestibility of carbohydrates in feed, thus increasing the amount of nutrients an animal can use for energy and growth. The primary types of carbohydrases used in animal nutrition include xylanase, which breaks down xylans, glucanase which digests glucans, and mannanase which digests mannans.

Protein-degrading enzymes break down complex proteins into shorter proteins, called peptides, and amino acids, which are the building blocks of protein. The addition of a protease can help to neutralize the negative effects of the proteinaceous anti-nutritional factors in addition to breaking down the large storage protein molecules into smaller, absorbable fractions.

The addition of a starch-degrading enzyme called amylase to animal feed can help to expose the starch more rapidly to digestion in the small intestine especially for broilers between 4 and 21 days, and in doing so lead to improved growth rates from enhanced nutrient uptake.

Phytic acid-degrading enzymes break down phytate, a substrate that contains phosphorus,an important nutrient that is essential for growth, cell maintenance, and tissue repair. Corn, which is a major component of the typical poultry diet, contains significant amounts of phytate. Adding phytase to poultry feed allows the animal to utilize more of the phosphorus within the feed. There is also an important environmental advantage to maximizing the amount of phosphorus that an animal can absorb.

From the above information, we can conclude that enzymes mainly act on crude fiber and protein or mineral materials in broiler feeds to release the energy, but no effects on the crude fat. Lachance Runeon bile acids can activate lipases, help fat digestion and absorption, meanwhile, bile acids can also help with a better utilization of protein from the energy perspective. So after adding bile acids, the enzymes like lipase, protease can be reduced with a small amount. Moreover, it is bile acids which make possible a controlled succession of chemical reactions in biological systems. They are not spent during the reaction, but act and return to their original state once the reaction is complete. For this reason the amount of bile acids required is very small compared to substrate. Bile acids added to feedstuff act in the digestive tract in the same way as other main nutrients. Hence there are not any residues to be found in the faeces or liquid manure, nor is it necessary to observe any withdrawal period before animals fed on bile acids supplemented diets can be slaughtered.

Runeon can be used with broiler feed matrix: 150-200g/ton feed to save up to 50Kcals pure energy with cheaper materials or save up to 100 kcal energy with corn meals as replacement through all the stages of broiler lifecycle. Because Runeon have no substrate of fats, and the 50Kcal is the pure energy not limit to oil and you can also reduce the other energy suppliers which cost more money. And the replacement materials can be zeolite, bentonite, rice bran or other cheaper materials. If the replacement is some energy supplier like corn, the saving can be up to 100Kcals. Runeon can also be used on the top with 200gram per ton feed for better growth performance by at least 2% carcass rate.

What’s more, Runeon can also be used in layer feed to solve fatty liver problem, decrease feed intake, improve egg and shell quality, improve production rate and others. Runeon is used on the top for layer feed with dosage of 500-1000 gram per ton feed for at least 2 weeks after the age of 50 weeks and then decreasing to 300 gram per ton feed gradually, or with the dosage of 250 gram per ton from the beginning of layer life.
