Optimization Project for Local Company Leads to New Business Partnership

Last week I was given the opportunity to meet with a small local health services provider, to which I was told you are 'Lucky' to meet with me because I never take these meetings. This is not typically the first thing you'd like to hear when starting the discovery process but I knew from my first look around the office that there was an opportunity to help reduce the business's operational expenses.

Once the gentleman and I were able to really dive more into the discussion it became clear that the current set up was not efficient as they were spending a few hundred dollars on ink/toner for their desktop multi-function devices. As the discussion continued the company was also paying for marketing materials to be printed out of house which was not cheap either. As we began to simply write down the expenses and extrapolated the costs to a monthly expense, the owner was a bit surprised. It is not uncommon that a business is not exactly sure how much they are spending for their printing/copying needs but they do know it is always factored into their budget.

After performing this exercise with the client we then began to discuss and share ideas on how I would be able to help his business to reduce these operational expenses while providing a new solution that met the needs of the office. We spoke about the various options that can be added to his Toshiba solution but I determined that stapling, hole punch and additional paper sources were not necessary. I always like to ensure that a partner will actually use these features because in my eyes there is no reason to pay more per month for accessories that will not be used.

Once we finished up with our first consultative meeting we scheduled a time for him to see the device and dive a bit deeper into the cost analysis summary report I had put together. This makes the business decision very black and white, as I too would like to know how much money I am spending today and what the new anticipated expense will be. (this could be due to my father being an accountant ) After this meeting he decided to move forward choosing to work with myself and Toshiba Business Solutions. If this partnership had never started their is no doubt in my mind that the company would have continued with the way they have always been doing things. The fact he decided to take a chance to meet with me and learn more about the technology available I was able to help reduce his monthly expenses by 30%.($100.00 Per Month) This fact is what makes me love what I do.

We are all experts at our own craft lean on your business partners to help supply you with the information, discuss ideas that correlate with your future business goals and learn how technology can help you obtain those goals. I want to be a true business partner and not just another sales representative.
