Optimistic
I’d describe myself in general as a cynical romantic — I hope for the best, but I’m not disappointed with the worst. Except in healthcare. I am truly optimistic. This definitely sets me apart from some of my colleagues. Yet, my hope stems from innovative technologies and treatments that promise to change healthcare as we know it – which will make us all stronger, wiser, more insightful and connected.
I find my optimism entrenched in the growing strength of our great Association. I’ve served as MGMA’s president and CEO for more than two years, and in that time, our voice as the preeminent leader of medical practice has flourished. And, we all continue to positively transform healthcare every day.
While visiting several of our state associations, I’ve spoken with many of you regarding your future vision of healthcare and what you need from MGMA to achieve those visions. What I hear inspires me. Your passion for the profession and your resolve to thrive is electrifying. Your innovative thinking fuels my optimism.
Cutting-edge innovation is only useful when it solves real-world problems. It is the role of our Association to keep innovation grounded in practical reality. And it’s important to remember that the best technology and innovation works hand-in-hand with the connection between patient and provider.
So I hope you join me in my optimism for our future and for MGMA’s role in that future. Cheers to transformation, innovation and to you!
