Optimism is a Happiness Magnet

Happiness is a function of expectations versus reality. If your reality exceeds your expectations, you're happy. Most people have, at least on some level, the expectation of a good job, a good relationship, a supportive social network, and plenty of free time. But most people don't have all of those things. Many have some, but sacrifice others. Or some balance of each. So to be happy means lowering your expectations, which can be hard in and of itself.
Because you likely also have an expectation of having high expectations. The other option is self-deluding yourself into believing that the things you have are better than they are, which is exceptionally dangerous. People who are highly self-motivated are often unhappy. They want more. And there's nothing wrong with that. The best thing you can do is divorce your "wants" from your "expectations".
It's perfectly healthy to want all of your hopes and dreams, but you should temper that hope with the very real possibility that you may not get what you want. You may not get any of the things that you want. And accepting that possibility is the key to really being happy, regardless of outcomes.
Optimism is basically an expectation that "things are going to be good". There's no factual evidence that this is the case. In fact, there's a lot of evidence to the contrary. Things work out poorly far more often than they work out well. Pessimism isn't any better, as it can be self-fulfilling and prevent you from trying things that might actually work out. The best solution is realism: accepting that most outcomes are out of your control, but that you can control your own actions to influence those outcomes to a certain degree.
And put frankly, optimism is often the enemy of happiness. In my job, if I was optimistic about how much money I was going to make, how easy my clients would be to work with, and how much free time I'd have, I'd be miserable. But I instead make realistic judgements on all three. I assume that not every deal is going to go though. That every client is going to be a nightmare.
That every project is going to have unexpected delays that will result in more work. Most of the time I'm pleasantly surprised. I make more money than I expect. I have better clients and most of the time than I expect. And I've got more free time than I have any right having. So I'm happy. Not always. But usually.
But always remember that there's nothing wrong with not being happy. And the expectation that, for whatever reason, you "should" be happy can be more damaging than unhappiness itself. t's possible that you don't see yourself as a happy or optimistic person, and this self-image is getting in your way of embracing the feeling of happiness and an optimistic attitude.
It's also possible that you don't believe happiness is attainable or optimism is a logical attitude towards a gloomy reality. The problem here is that you're painting a picture of reality by focusing on the negatives.
It is possible that many people experience happiness, and there's a lot to be optimistic about. I suggest you explore the self-image you consider to be you and your outlook on life. It seems to me they're the culprits behind your feelings of happiness and optimism being unnatural to you. When you are an amazing person, and a true offspring of our ancestors and a very fine evolutionary Product.
There might be many possible explanations behind this attitude, one of them might be , you are looking towards life the way it is, neither overestimating it nor underestimating it. I have met few persons like you in my life, it was very sad to know that at some point of their life they were literally broken, devastated. but yet they didn’t give up. They reconstructed themselves, rebuilt their thoughts and thus restarted their life. Now they are the strongest persons i ever knew in my life. In fact they are like my Inspiration. If you share the same Fortune, I bow before you, because only you the people are the last hope of humanity. Stay blessed! #kishoreshintre #possessedbywritingspirit
