The optimal PRIME battery regeneration timing
Based on discharge tests, we recommend attempting to regenerate lead-acid batteries that are in use or have been recently replaced with their capacity remaining at least 50-60% (Over 70% will be good) of SoH (State of Charge). The PRIME Regenerators are highly effective at restoring sulfated batteries. However, physically damaged batteries, such as those with cell cuts, cell shorts, severe corrosion, or other forms of waste disposal damage, cannot be improved through regeneration.
[*State of Health (SoH): SoH can also refer to the State of Health of a battery or energy storage device. The SoH indicates the percentage of the battery's capacity that is currently available. For example, if the SoH of a battery is at 80%, it means that 80% of the battery's capacity is currently available for use.]
Some customers ask whether PRIME battery machines can regenerate fully exhausted batteries left in storage for an extended period. However, it is important to note that batteries that have been fully discharged and severely corroded cannot be improved, and I think it's a waste of time and money. Furthermore, although some batteries may be slightly improved, they are not marketable or profitable. Therefore, we recommend discarding fully exhausted batteries and forgetting about them entirely.
In the above table, lead-acid battery groups show 90% capacity (SoH) when its capacity drops by 10% (10% is in a state where the capacity loss is due to sulfate) but over 80% (with only below 20% remaining life up to SoH 80%) of battery life is already reduced. Moreover, the battery's usable capacity has dropped sharply from SoH 90% to 60%, indicating that the capacity and lifespan have been significantly reduced. The battery manufacturer's recommended battery usage cycle has already been reached at SoH 80%, so SoH 80%~60% is already overused and requires immediate replacement.
Most vehicle batteries tend to be used continuously until there is a starting problem (ignition). Still, its actual situation is already in a state where the battery is physically damaged, and recovery is almost impossible. It is not an exaggeration to say that even if such batteries can be restored, their restoration results are not so high that they have little commerciality and profitability.
Many often-used car batteries must be restored at least 4~6 months after installation in hot temperature countries to achieve the best regeneration performance.
(Repetitive Regenerations of E-Rickshaw in a hot country: every 3~4 months from the new battery installation,
Automobile start (SLI) in hot-weather countries: Every 6-12 months, and Industrial batteries every 10-18 months). In cold-weather countries (like Korea & Western Europe), it will be double that in hot-weather countries. In cold regions with long winters, batteries that have not been used for a long time may over-discharge and require charging from time to time. However, even batteries that temporarily over-discharge and do not charge well can be restored with the PRIME Regenerator. If the battery is frozen, charging or regeneration will not work correctly, so be sure to raise the battery temperature to at least 20°C before charging or regenerating.
PRIME battery regeneration equipment series is the only superior technology for getting the most life out of your batteries. Regular PRIME regeneration of the battery groups every one to two years allows the sulfate ions to dissolve the hardened sulfates and reduce the increased internal resistances, preventing the batteries from overheating and minimizing the evaporation of the electrolytes. PRIME equipment is the world's only PRIME battery regenerator that acts as an engine oil for your battery groups, just like regularly changing the oil in your car to keep your engine running longer.
The table provided is the basis for the new 2V battery bank. Regular regeneration with
PRIME can extend the actual period of use (life) by 2~3 times (200%~300%) than previous use (100%) and maintain high battery capacity.
PRIME regenerators remove or minimize the causes of battery heat, such as sulfates, oxidation, high internal resistance, corrosion, etc., thereby extending the capacity and lifespan of most batteries over 2~3 times than before.
Regenerating batteries that have been discarded for a long time is not recommended, as they are mostly physically damaged and have little future salability or profitability.
Batteries with a capacity of 50 Ah or less, which are frequently used in taxis and long-term over-discharged in city buses, are mostly physically damaged and not profitable. Therefore, restoring high-capacity industrial batteries is a better option.
Batteries that have lost over 60% of their SoH capacity are nearing the end of their lifespan with little chance of restoration. Therefore, instead of wasting time and money restoring discarded batteries, it is better to recycle them immediately into lead.
