Optimal Performance is developing key insights into the health of your employees in the Home Office

Deadlines for the ACA and AODA loom large. Our firm guides companies to comply, then move to Inclusion. We put the "A" in DEI.
This is a brief article to let people know that Optimal Performance Consultant, a North American Ergonomic and Human Health Firm has conducted over 60 new ergonomic assessments for a variety of client types; mainly in Banking, Consulting, Phamaceuticals, FI. We have a total, over the last decade, of over 200 Home Office Assessments which act as a baseline against the Work From Home from Feb to current.
Here are some of our findings thus far:
45% of employees whom we assessed wear smart technology.
This 45% of employees monitor their breaks, when, how long & type
They also monitor their # of steps per day both their casual walking within their home office and outside for exercise.
Of this 45% of all employees assessed & using technology: 25% note a decrease in their number of breaks and decrease # of steps by 30%
The remaining 75% note that they have decreased their # and frequency of breaks by 23% and the # of steps has decreased by 50%.
We have much more data as we are using:
- Questionnaires
- Photographs
- Direct Interviews
- Video Conferencing
- Ergonomic Assessments
To pose questions about:
- Mental Health
- Levels of distraction in the home office; visual, auditory, mental, children or older parents
- Light, air quality, access to natural light, access to outdoor air
- Frequency of breaks and micro-breaks, lunch
- How many more hours of work are being completed vs when working on site in the office
- Frequency and nature of exercise per work day
- Nature of ergonomic issue; pain; disabling injury or symptoms; days lost due to these issues
- Etc.
Given that employees are far less visible to HR departments, Managers, Operations and Corporate Real Estate, our team wanted to show you some of the preliminary findings we are measuring & interpreting. As we have become in a sense, front line relative to employee health, and ergonomics, we are able to provide this unique insight into how employees are and how they feel their productivity and performance levels are secondary to health and ergonomics.
Our next steps include taking this data providing presentations to our clients and subscribers so key decision makers learn more about the real issues in the Home Office and work with our team to develop strategic and measureable solutions for the challenges being quantifying.
