Opportunity x Be Ready
Once at Business School, I walked into the classroom and the professor was waiting for the students to arrive. When I looked at the blackboard and it was written like this: opportunity x being ready, what depends on you? That was impactful for me, because I started to think and reflect on the things I was going through in college and in my professional life
The opportunity is always before our eyes and out of habit, we only complain and don't want to see the opportunities that life offers us. However, we are not always prepared to accept new challenges, because the fear it causes in us, due to our own unpreparedness, makes us let an opportunity pass before our eyes.
In the old testament, we see a story of two men by the name of Elijah and Elisha. When Elisha walked with Elijah, he had a great opportunity. He had the opportunity to get to know one of the greatest prophets that ever lived. His decision was to take full advantage of this chance. For this he renounced several things and assumed the “risk” inherent in his decision. Elisha wanted to take a cover that Elijah carried and was persistent in his goal. Where Elijah went, Elisha followed, because he knew that at any moment, he would have this cover.
I related a part of this story just to illustrate that life provides us with many opportunities. Some of them are great and we should enjoy them, others are bad and we should deny them. The decision of which opportunity we should seize is ours alone.
Never throw away an opportunity that life can give you, always be prepared, because we don't know when it will happen.
