Climbing a mountain may seem easy in the beginning. The peak may not seem far on the onset. With the excitement of a new beginning, we may believe we can accomplish anything. If the journey begins with being unprepared, disaster will take place. Many people have become ill, injured, or even died in the attempt to climb a mountain unprepared. Although the climb is simple, it is never easy. There are many things to consider:
- Temperature
- Weather Conditions
- Footwear
- Correct Clothing
- Hydration
- Nutrition
- Navigation
- Sun Protection
- First Aid Supplies
- Communication
- Shelter
Just a small, yet incomplete, list of things to consider before embarking on your journey. It takes more then "Let's Do This!". Proper planning is essential to reach the summit. Lack of planning will may result in devastating results. As many are excited about beginning their business success, the same principles apply.
A myth many people mistakenly follow is the belief that they don't have to put the energy and work in to become successful. To become successful in anything takes 100% commitment. Commitment is staying focused on what you set out to do long after you stop feeling like continuing. Many people begin their journey of success with the belief that they can do things when it it convenient and comfortable. The key is becoming uncomfortable and willing to be inconvenienced is the key.
- Be consistent in following a proven system.
- Be consisteent in sticking with the proven system when you don't feel like it.
- Be consistent in the attention of the small details.
- Be consistent in proper management of priorities.
- Be consistent in being 100% committed to your dream.
- Be consistent in the focus of your dream.
- Be consistent in reaching the top when circumstances tell you otherwise.
- Be consistent in surrounding your self with a team of encouragement.
- Be consistent in positive self-talk.
- Be consistent knowing your "WHY".
Many people fail to become the success they dreamed because they stopped just before they reached their goal. Be consistent in preperation before you start. This will increased your chances of success. Understanding that endevors worth taking are never easy. Although they may be simple, following a system or process is the proven method for lasting success.

7 年Hi Bob, As always, I value your perspective. Nice image. I have a friend that in his early 60's has climbed Everest a few times along with many other 14teeners as part of his fight against Alzheimer's. I agree with your article but have to make a refining point: For many leaders change has crashed the effectiveness of systems that used to be "proven" thus the need to create a new one. The phrase I use is to adapt and thrive but as most management understands the need for a system, even when they fail to see the system behind every need, it takes coaches like you and our emerging team to restore a new stability and normalcy. Talk soon, Bill.
