An opportunity for a great many things.

As cities around the country & world enforce a quarantine and many people are encouraged to stay home, we need to look at this situation as an opportunity rather than a challenge. This is not to say that these are not challenging times but if we can shift our perspective we can shift how we approach what is happening.

 If you are in good health and confined to your home then look at this as a wonderful opportunity for change and growth.

 There are so many things you can be doing, start with your mind. Get yourself in the right frame of mind. You can’t leverage this time for change and growth if your mind is a mess.

 Next up, make a plan! Don't waste precious time!

 If you are going to be home-bound for a week or more then ask yourself how you can leverage this opportunity to create change and growth in your life.

 If that question is too daunting then you can start with a simpler question such as, What is something that I have been wanting to do that I have not had the time to do?” It could be reading a book or taking an online course to learn a skill or personal development tools.

 Few more examples of things to Do while at home.

  1. Be kind
  2. Read a book.
  3. Meditate and/or Pray.
  4. Indulge in a passion project.
  5. Learn a new skill.
  6. Exercise at home.
  7. Do a brain-stimulating activity.
  8. Practice self-discipline. 
  9. Limit your social media intake & forwards.
  10. Tidy up.

 Most people have a list of things in their head that they would do if only they had the time. Go through yours and write down things you’d like to accomplish in the coming days. Maybe we’re all home-bound for a week, maybe it lasts much longer, but no matter what, we all want to come out of this healthy, happy, and ready to get back to doing the work that will need to be done in our families, communities and companies.

 The worst thing you can do to yourself right now is to sit and do absolutely nothing. I’ll share in an upcoming email why this is so detrimental to mental health especially at a time like this.

 Your homework:

Make a list of three things you have been wanting to do but have not and get them done in the next 2 weeks. Can you commit to doing this?
