Opportunity or Butterfly?

[03/02/11] Let's assume you have a goal or purpose that you are in love with – you really want this. We can also assume that you know, at least intellectually, that abundance is our birthright (you are moving toward pure faith and belief in that). And you know that this goal and/or purpose would not violate the rights of others which would be violating universal law.

Each time a new ‘opportunity’ shows up, you ask yourself “if I do this or take it on, does it move me toward my goal, or away from it?” And we’ll also assume you know it will take you toward your goal, not away from it.

Traveling along your path of change and growth, you plant many seeds. Ideas and desires are spiritual seeds that when nurtured properly like a physical seed, absolutely will and must grow. They do not show up or manifest in physical form based on our (human) calendar. It can take weeks, months, even years for something we desire to show up. We keep on planting and then the seeds begin to bloom – on the timetable of the universe.

You’ve got a lot going on. Suddenly and seemingly unexpectedly, one of those seeds appears to bloom overnight!

Here’s the question: Is the bloom on your path of change, which must take you toward your goal... or, did a beautiful butterfly just 'catch your eye?'

If you already have a full garden of opportunities, meaning you’ve removed all the weeds (those which do not take you toward your goal or purpose), butterflies are always hovering. They represent new opportunities and they’re looking for a place to land as they graze the nectar of all your opportunities.??

But we can’t do everything and sometimes we must weed out a beautiful garden! Unfortunate... and true.

So how would there be room for and how would you know that this butterfly belongs in your garden (on your path)?

Here’s what happened to me in this regard not long ago. I was not sure whether a particularly hovering butterfly was a garden opportunity – on my path of change – or was it a distraction that I sought out. My brass ring: happy, healthy and wealthy in all areas of life.

August 2010 I envisioned a program where people could actually reinvent, reshape, or revamp their own self image (what they believe they can do) at the same time they are applying simple style techniques that match the inside self image. I fell in love with the idea a year before, and this program, Style & Mindset took form. The program was scheduled to launch the first week of November at the Capital City Club. In October my intuition told me to ‘pull the plug'. The decision was based on all parties not meeting their agreed upon obligations. What is important to note is that all the work for the event had been done! I set a new date (April 15, 2011) and went on my way, giving it only a bit of thought now and then.

My plate was full in Q1 2011, but I happened to see an email with a link to the Southern Women's Show in Raleigh where this program would fit perfectly. I wrote the managers, they came from Charlotte to meet me and handed me the event opening on the large runway for April 8. By this time however, I was on to other things that took up a lot of my time.

So did this butterfly land on my path? Or did I reach out to snare it in my net (by going to the link and reaching out to show managers) – catching the butterfly to fit it into my garden?

Resolution: While it appeared to be a butterfly and in fact caught my attention, since all the work had been done 6 months earlier and most importantly – I had fallen in love with the idea, it had grown roots and the universe actually dropped it on my own personal ‘path of change.' It moved me toward my goal in a big way so I made room for it in my garden.

The moral of the story: Expect spiritual seeds (ideas), properly nurtured, to grow roots and bloom (to give you what you want) at unexpected times and from unexpected sources.

P.S. - The event was April 8, 2011 and the following week April 15, the program, Style & Mindset: Where Inner Strength & Outer Style Unite! launched. Interesting how accurate my instructions were to the Universe!
