Opportunities for Using Color.
When used in your print marketing, color grabs attention. It increases retention. It reflects your brand.?Color sells.
When marketers think of color, they generally think of images and graphic design. But there are other places you can benefit from adding color that you may be overlooking. Let’s look at five opportunities you don’t want to miss.?
1. Using brightly colored envelopes.?When you do a direct mailing, unless you are sending a postcard, the envelope is the first thing people see. And brightly colored envelopes are most likely the first thing they reach for.??
2. Highlighting your offer.?Images and backgrounds aren’t the only places to use color. Place text in brightly colored call-out boxes or use colored or highlighted text inside the body copy. Use color to do what it does best—say, “Look at me!”?
3. Spotlighting your call to action.?Place your call to action in a strategic location and use color to draw your reader’s eye. Place the call to action in a starburst or use an oversized font in a bright “can’t miss me” color.?
4. Using teasers.?Use a teaser copy on the outside of the envelope to get your message out there before readers even open the flap (“10 days to save!” or “Save 25% today!”). You can also add a teaser copy to the white space around the body copy of the letter.?
5. Add a Postscript.?Did you know that the postscript of a letter is often what people read first? Take advantage of this fact and use colored text to reinforce the key elements of your message.?
Color is a critical element of any marketing program, and it’s not just for images. Find creative ways to grab attention and draw your customers’ eyes to places in your printed materials that you want them to see.?
Print Still Works, color is a powerful tool and even more impressive when printed.
