Opinion | With Biden coverage like this, who needs a conspiracy? - The Washington Post

The author seems sincere and well intentioned. She must see herself as a fair and independent minded journalist offering a partial? apology for the egregious media bias during the past four years, while interspersing weak, even embarrassing explanations, for what she sympathetically describes as “the media sleepwalking.” Of course, there is the inevitable gratuitous denigration of Trump splintering her credibility, which is too bad, because within her ideological limitations she tried hard to circumvent an overt mortal transgression.
Disappointingly, her equivocations make? matters worse and serve as a further indictment of the press that violated its code of conduct and betrayed its readers. She utters soft reprimands,, “if he hadn’t self - immolated wouldn’t our readers still be in the dark.” Well, yes, to the detriment of your readers and the eternal shame of your publication.?
She insists it wasn’t a conspiracy, it was a mistake, and Biden’s White House simply extraordinarily? skilled at deflecting journalists, but not those at Fox News, the New York Post, the Daily Signal, Victor David Hansen, Jonathan Turley, little ole’ me, and tens of millions of others, deplorables and not, blacks and whites, and all the rest of those urgently concerned for promoting the best interests of America.?
It was not hard to recognize the painful and transparent cognitive decline whose lapses were not isolated but apparent every-time he spoke and in whatever circumstance. If not so pitiable, or such a clear and present danger to national security, it would have been incongruously and cruelly humorous.?
Despite her protestations to the contrary the media’s treatment of Biden was a conspiracy to protect a Democratic President. All of their decisions were entirely driven by partisanship which provided a Democratic administration a trust it didn’t deserve. The videos of a befuddled president acting on world stages were characterized as “ cheap fakes,” the final refuge of the chief purveyors of “fake news.”?
In a moment of candor she concedes, “ the viewers of Fox News understood the president’s condition better than our audiences, which ought to be a huge wake- up call for us.” But, her evasiveness is more a circumscribed concession than a heartfelt confession. It doesn’t begin to explain why millions of occasional viewers of Fox News, of which I am one, did not require a source beyond our ordinary power of observation and common sense to conclude the mainstream media was lying profusely, they were not confused or in denial, they were determined to flummox the pubic they are duty bound to serve, and they did it because they could, without requiring thirty pieces of silver.?

A state of reportage in which newsrooms lopsidedly support one party is not merely biased but evil. When the coverage is not just lopsided but absolute we enter a realm where right is suffocated and wrong is enthroned. “We can’t breathe.”?
I have respected friends that ignore or minimize the enormity of the harm done by a media deliberately colluding to cover up the decline of a Democratic president. They insist that they were not deluded or sleepwalked into Biden’s debate disaster and, unfortunately, I am convinced they were not. As? the media were cognizant all along of the travesty in progress? they pretended otherwise, because whatever detracted from Trump was acceptable, for them the blackest of lies passed the smell test, in accord with this canon. They are guilty of immoral conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman.?
For my part and for millions of others, committed or converted to the pursuit of truth, the media cannot be forgiven. Our byword is never forget, our pledge is never again, not in our country, not on our watch.
